The goal of our field volunteer program is to contribute to sustainable development in the area of the Inner Ionian island archipelago in Greece. For this activity, volunteers monitor the bird diversity and behavior for a variety of coastal ecosystems principally in the island of Kalamos, using direct observations, sound recorders and passive acoustic monitoring devices.

Work with nature’s gentle giants on this inspiring conservation and research project. Working closely with the abused and displaced elephants, you gain a rich insight into one of the world’s most intelligent creatures. As a volunteer you get to know the elephants intimately whilst caring for them, feeding them and contributing to advancing research.

In Sri Lanka, numerous dogs live on the streets. In the dog project, these street dogs are cared for, groomed, neutered, vaccinated and, if possible, placed in a new home. You will support the team in particular with the care and feeding off the dogs and you will help the often shy animals to get used to humans, e.g. by playing with them.

The southern west coast of Costa Rica is an almost untouched wonder. Wide palm beaches alternate with large wetlands that stretch for miles across the region. In this project, you will support a research station that cares for the crocodiles, turtles, mammals, and birds that call this place home.

Join an active conservation research centre to support their work in researching and conserving amazing local wildlife, including endangered sea turtles. During turtle season you will help monitor and protect nesting sea turtles and release hatchlings into the Pacific Ocean. Throughout the year there are several active scientific research projects to immerse yourself in Costa Rica’s wildlife.

The Professional Field Guide course in Southern Africa is tailored for individuals who are passionate about blending hands-on environmental conservation with a deep understanding of ecosystems while immersing themselves in the wilderness.

In Sri Lanka, there are frequent conflicts between humans and elephants, as the elephants' habitat increasingly overlaps with local communities. The project was founded to resolve this conflict and protect the elephants. As a volunteer, you will support the team in researching and observing the elephants, thereby helping to protect these endangered animals.

Volunteer in Croatia to support dog shelters caring for abandoned, rescued, and mistreated dogs. Assist with feeding, walking, grooming, enrichment, and shelter maintenance to help dogs recover from trauma and find new homes. Gain hands-on animal welfare experience while exploring the beauty and culture of Croatia.

Set in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania, this sanctuary currently homes over 100 mistreated and abused bears. Rescued from cramped cages and tourist attractions, these bears can now enjoy freedom in the stunning sanctuary. Volunteers mainly help with food preparation and other ad hoc sanctuary tasks, watched over by the bears. Day trips for school groups are available.
