Your assignment in Nepal
As a volunteer, you will assist an organization that was founded by volunteers. The original goal was to restore a forest area in the Dhanusha region that had been exploited by poaching and economic exploitation. Through the planting of thousands of trees and the repopulation of animals, the area has almost completely regenerated.
However, there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of monitoring the forest areas, wildlife populations, and public awareness. As a volunteer, you can lend a hand and contribute to the preservation of Nepal's natural environment.
Your tasks in the environmental and animal welfare project
During your volunteer work in the project, you will be needed for a wide variety of tasks. For example, you will support the team in returning confiscated or endangered animals to a protected area. You will also help to record biodiversity by setting up trail cameras throughout the area. The images captured will then be analyzed and the data entered into lists. This allows the wild population to be monitored.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in animal welfare education. On the one hand, you can create posts for social networks and help the team keep the website up to date. You can also do educational work in nearby schools, for example by giving presentations on the importance of nature and animal conservation.
Your daily work in the wildlife project
Working hours depend on current demand and the number of volunteers present. However, you will usually work from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is a one-hour break in between, during which you will also receive your lunch.
