Like no other animal, the mustang is seen as the epitome of the American way of life: free, wild and independent. Sadly, this concept is only partially true nowadays. Apart from the roughly 15,000 mustangs still living in the wild, there are at least equally as many living in sub-standard conditions in captivity. As a volunteer, you will help protecting and rehabilitating these animals.

This project gives you the opportunity to put your energy to good use by contributing to the maintenance of a wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is a rescue centre for wild animals which are unable to survive in the wild due to ill-treatment, neglect or abandonment. Here they are given a home and the peace they need to recover and gather strength.
You will play an active role in a variety of nature conservation projects in the western USA, living in the heart of California's breathtaking natural landscape. Your work on the project will take you to beautiful regions of the Golden State, well away from the beaten path, giving you an insight into California which few will be able to match.
As part of this voluntary project you join the experienced team of a non-profit sanctuary to dedicate yourself to the protection of farmed animals. The special thing about volunteering in this project: To enhance a more conscious, sustainable and animal friendly lifestyle you will live entirely vegan during your time at the sanctuary.
