Your Tasks:
You will work either in the dental department of a hospital or a clinic in Samaná. During this experience and observation program, you’ll shadow dentists and nurses and gradually gain your own hands-on experience in the field of dentistry.
This project is ideal for students who are already studying dentistry or planning to pursue it. Previous experience is welcome and will influence how specific your tasks are and how broadly you can be involved during your assignment.
Important:
As a volunteer/intern, you must bring your own lab coat and closed, easy-to-clean shoes! Hospitals and clinics on-site also appreciate donations of latex gloves, disinfectant, and medical face masks (especially N95 masks for patients), as these supplies are often limited. However, this is entirely voluntary and not a requirement.
Your tasks during the project may include the following:
Your working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please keep in mind that this is a medical placement, so your schedule may be adjusted according to medical needs and patient demand.
You can be placed in one of four different hospitals/clinics and may work alongside up to one other volunteer.
Your free time
Palm-fringed beaches, crystal-clear water and authentic Caribbean flair. In addition to relaxing days on the beach, extraordinary highlights such as the El Limón waterfall, whale watching and excursions into the jungle of the Los Haitises National Park await you.
