The special needs school offers children with special needs a safe and stimulating learning environment. The students are supported with the overarching goal of making them more independent in life.

Volunteer placements are possible in various areas with the following exemplary tasks:

Special Education

You can assist in the classroom, sometimes also provide one-on-one tutoring under supervision, or contribute to the development of materials and the organization of leisure activities.

Physiotherapy

You mostly help with mobility assessments and assist with stretching and strengthening exercises. You can help children improve balance and coordination, and if available, participate in hydrotherapy or sensorimotor activities. Documenting patient progress and educating caregivers about home exercises are also possible.

Occupational Therapy

You mostly assist with assessing children's fine and gross motor skills and with therapy exercises to improve coordination, balance, and sensory integration. You also help promote daily living skills, such as eating, and assist with the development of assistive devices. Observing therapy sessions and taking progress notes are also part of it.

Speech Therapy

You will observe and assist speech therapists during sessions. You can conduct basic speech and language tests under supervision and help with translations, support children with articulation and communication exercises, and often contribute to the development of speech therapy materials.

Psychology

You can conduct behavioral assessments under supervision and observe and assist in counseling and therapy sessions for children with emotional and social challenges. It is also possible to help with the development of activities to promote cognitive, emotional, and social skills and to support children with behavior modification strategies. It is also possible to conduct workshops to promote mental health awareness or observe case studies and prepare progress reports.

Here you can help by assisting with administrative tasks and fundraising activities, participating in events, and helping with the documentation of activities or the creation of presentations and reports.
