Our program in Accra is not only suitable for already decided medicine students but also for people, who simply want to get a real insights in medical work - e.g. as a volunteer to support the daily work in Ghana where help is needed.
During your time in Ghana you have two ways to do this program: As a volunteer without any pre-experience in the medical sector you will be supporting the so-called "Mobile Clinics" in the rural areas outside of Accra. In this areas locals nearly have no or only limited access to medical care. Mobile clinics can help them to have access to a basic and primary health care like vaccinations, life-saving medicine and treatment of small injuries.
As a student of medicine you have the chance to gain practical experiences in a field of choice and Ghanas biggest hospital! Tropical medicine, orthopaedics, midwifery or surgery can be named as some of a lot of examples. It might also can be taken as a medical traineeship if you let us know the conditions for that from your university!

When will we be able to accept volunteers again?
We have regrettably cancelled most of our trips and courses that were due to go ahead 2020. Our next scheduled trips though will most likely be not be departing before January 2021. We remain optimistic that are programs will return to normality by this time, but we are of course constantly monitoring the situation and are making decisions about the operation of our trips and courses on a rolling basis, based on the departure date. We have, however, begun to accept bookings from participants for trips in January 2021 which is great news and very encouraging.
We look forward to getting back to running our trips around the world, just as soon as it is safe, practical, and responsible to do so.
Can you apply now for future trips & courses?
Of course! We are currently taking bookings for trips and courses due to depart in January 2021 and beyond. Our ability to secure you a place on future trips has not been affected and we are planning future trips as usual.
