Communication and administration of NGOs in Tanzania

As an volunteer in communications and administration for NGOs in Tanzania, you typically work with a partner organization in the Kilimanjaro Region. You'll generally focus on office-based tasks but often have the opportunity to leave the office and participate in fieldwork. The NGOs are mostly active in areas such as human rights, community development, poverty reduction, measures against female genital mutilation, education, youth development, and psychotherapeutic aid.

Your tasks usually include research and report writing, where you research relevant social, economic, or environmental topics and assist with creating reports, case studies, and grant applications. You'll often also evaluate ongoing projects and prepare assessment reports.

In the area of social media and communication, you usually manage social media platforms, design promotional materials like flyers and newsletters, and write blog posts or website content.

Financial and logistical tasks include supporting budgeting, financial reporting, logistics for projects and events, and fundraising campaigns.

In the area of capacity building and training, you typically develop training materials, assist with IT tasks, and provide administrative support for workshops or community programs.

Occasionally, language and translation tasks arise, where you translate documents or interpret at meetings with local stakeholders or international visitors. Finally, you're also involved in relationships with donors and stakeholders by preparing presentations and proposals for potential donors and providing regular updates on project progress.

This is a volunteer position, and therefore it is unpaid. However, these exemplary activities offer you valuable practical experience in non-profit management and intercultural cooperation.
