Children and teenagers in Bolivia are often left to their own devices during the day when their parents are at work. In many cases, the older siblings, who are still children themselves, have to take care of their younger brothers and sisters.
A community center in Cochabamba helps these families through various social programs and childcare options, e.g. Preschool classes, playful English courses, homework help and afternoon care.
With this online internship you don't travel to Bolivia yourself, but communicate with your internship supervisor abroad via video conference, telephone, email and instant messaging services. You can work comfortably from home and your internship supervisor will give you professionally relevant tasks and discuss them with you so that you have the greatest possible learning effect. You can decide for yourself how many hours per week you want to do the remote internship (6-40 hours per week are possible). This includes the time you work on tasks that your internship supervisor (a social worker) gives you as well as the time you communicate online with him/her (usually 2-3 times a week for 1-2 hours). Any duration from 2 weeks to 6 months is possible.
With this remote internship, you can acquire relevant knowledge from an experienced social worker about the social situation in Bolivia and the work of an NGO in this field and support the organisation at the same time.
Your activities fall into the areas of administration (e.g. creating reports), fundraising, networking and creating content for social media, newsletters, websites, etc.
For this internship you should have some knowledge of computer use and social media, as well as flexibility with regard to the exact work area.
