Volunteer in childcare in Tangalle

Your placement and the goals of the project
In this project, you will support kindergartens at two locations in Sri Lanka – in Wattala near Colombo and in the relaxed coastal town of Galle. The kindergartens each look after around 20 to 30 children who enjoy creative play, crafts and singing. You will also assist with English lessons. The aim is to encourage the children at an early age and give them a broad foundation for school.

Your tasks during your volunteer work in a kindergarten in Sri Lanka
You will help prepare the classrooms and assist the teachers during lessons. You will also play, do crafts and sing with the children and contribute your own ideas. You can also actively participate in English lessons. It is important that you take the initiative to approach the local team and help out where needed.

Your daily work at the kindergarten
Your working hours depend on your placement. However, you will usually work Monday to Friday in the mornings.

Your free time in Wattala & Galle
Wattala is not far from Colombo and offers you the best of both worlds: city life and a relaxed coastal atmosphere. Highlights such as the Talangama Wetland and the capital Colombo are within easy reach. Galle scores with colonial flair, charming alleys in the Dutch Fort and beautiful beaches such as Unawatuna or Jungle Beach – perfect for relaxing, surfing or strolling.
