Women empowerment volunteering in Pokhara, Nepal

Volunteer on a women's empowerment project, which is dedicated to narrowing the gender gap in education in Pokhara. In Nepal, education is valued highly, but due to poverty, many women must drop out of school at a young age and this often means that their career prospects are limited. As a volunteer you can help address this issue and get involved in initiatives that are created in partnership with local women.

Each day, you will work 1-1, or in small groups, with local women, helping them to gain confidence in English. You will also work with a team of volunteers on initiatives in the city centre, tailored to the needs of the women. These include running workshops on health issues, finance, crafts and IT. These are fun events but also help women to gain confidence and new skills.

Pokhara, the second largest city in Nepal, is a lakeside city surrounded by beautiful and iconic Himalayan mountains. Living in this stunning city, you will get full immersion into the local community and you will get to use your weekends to explore.

You will be living with other volunteers in shared accommodation, run by and home to an amazing Nepali family. You will receive 3 meals a day. You will also have a project coordinator on site, who will help you make the most out of your time in Pokhara. Training is also provided at the project.
