Your tasks in the project
Ghana has a particularly young population; almost 15% are children under the age of 5. Unfortunately, not all of them come from financially secure backgrounds and some have to start working at an early age. Sometimes they are even left to fend for themselves.
In Ghana, there is therefore the option of placing children aged between one and three in a nursery. However, these facilities struggle with severe understaffing and a lack of funding. With your help, you will be able to relieve the burden on the local educators and enrich the children's lives with your input and attention.
Your specific tasks range from general assistance in raising the children to promoting their creativity and motor skills. Everything here is done in a playful way, and you are always welcome to contribute your own ideas. Supervisors are available at all times to answer any questions you may have.
Typical daily routine in the project
Your working hours depend on your place of work. However, you will generally work Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There are always short breaks in between. Some facilities also offer afternoon care from approximately 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., so you can stay active throughout the day.
Your free time in Accra
Accra delights visitors with its lively and colourful culture, historic cultural sites and beautiful beaches. To give you a good insight and help you get to know the area, you will take part in an included day trip.
