This volunteering program supports community development and social inclusion in Nou Barris, one of Barcelona’s most overlooked neighborhoods, where over 100,000 residents face social and economic exclusion.
Volunteers contribute to grassroots solidarity networks that fight poverty, reduce food waste, and combat social isolation while supporting local families, children, babies, and elderly residents.
The goal is simple: strengthen community connections and create practical support systems for people who need them most.
WHAT VOLUNTEERS DO
Volunteers contribute around 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday) through hands-on community work such as:
• Food bank logistics and distribution
• Collecting surplus food from supermarkets
• Meal preparation for community support
• Urban organic farming initiatives
• Activities that support elderly inclusion
• General support to local community programs
