Online interns with a passion for journalism and media have the opportunity to undertake a journalism internship in Tanzania. You can get involved with the English-language newspaper "Tanzania Standard Newspaper" or with a "Press Club" (journalists' association).
Newspaper Internship:
In a newspaper internship, you will be given topic suggestions for which you will research content and create texts in English, including image research. You will also write texts in English based on agency reports. In addition, you should also be able to identify topics yourself and independently write articles on them, which may then be published.
Internship with a Journalists' Association:
The main goal of journalists' associations is to promote the professionalism of journalism in Tanzania and advocate for press freedom. In this way, they contribute to a well-informed society. They achieve this through training courses, exchange programs, market research, and scholarships for their members.
During your internship, you will be assigned to an experienced freelance journalist. These members of the journalists' association produce content on various topics such as politics, economy, sports, lifestyle, and culture, and offer them to different publishers. Your tasks would include, for example, researching content and writing articles or video scripts.
With this online internship, you do not travel to Tanzania yourself, but communicate with your supervisor abroad via video conference, phone, email, and instant messaging services.
You can work comfortably from home, and your supervisor will give you professionally relevant tasks and discuss them with you, so you have the greatest possible learning effect.
You can decide for yourself how many hours per week you want to do the online internship (6-40 hours per week are possible). This includes the time you need to work on tasks given to you by your supervisor, as well as the time you communicate online (usually 2-3 times per week for 1-2 hours). Any duration from 1 week to 6 months is possible.
