Kindergartens in Tanzania are different fundamentally from care facilities in your home countries. There is less focus on playing than more on learning and education. In the kindergarten, the children should learn to read, write, calculate and acquire basic English knowledge. That is why you will support the teachers and carers mostly in teaching the children. Nevertheless, there is also time to play and being creative, especially here your support is needed!
In our partner schools, you will assist the teachers in teaching English, Maths, History, Politics, Science, Life Skills, Sports and Arts according to your wishes and knowledge. If you wish, you can also conduct lessons yourself. Even if the parents pay a certain amount for the education of their children, one can not compare the schools with European standard and they lack, for example, on teaching materials and teaching staff.
Your creativity is therefore not limited. In all projects, besides teaching and playing with the children, you can create afternoon activities such as football or book clubs, help cooking lunch for the students, repair and beautify things, do fundraising and much more. Since good education costs a lot of money and many children do not have access to that, the work of volunteers is so much appreciated.
The working hours are usually from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. All projects can be reached on foot or by a short bus ride.
Support our education project and helps us to improve the educational opportunities for Tanzanian children. Embrace a breathtaking country and a new culture. Teach and learn from each other. You can experience the effects and changes your work yourself, depending on the length of your stay. You can help the children prepare well for their tests and final exams, improve the teaching and learning environments and conditions, and gain a lot of own experience as a teacher. Either way, you'll put a smile on the children faces and have a great time.
