Unlock the power of language to transform lives in Rome’s most underserved communities. This inspiring project places you alongside local educators in a mission to foster equality through inclusive English teaching.
You will support after‑school learning centres and community hubs, working with children, migrants, and elderly learners in a culturally diverse environment. You’ll help design dynamic, age‑appropriate lessons that blend play, creativity, and conversation.
What is this project about?
Educational inequality affects learners of all ages in Rome. Many lack access to quality English instruction, which limits their future opportunities. This programme addresses that gap by providing engaging, inclusive English education in safe, supportive spaces.
What will I be doing?
You’ll receive full orientation and support to begin teaching. Then, you’ll lead or assist English activities such as games, songs, storytelling, and practical vocabulary exercises tailored to each group’s needs.
Tasks include:
Running English language games, songs, stories, and conversational activities
Supporting homework and literacy-based tasks for primary and teenage students
Assisting adult learners with everyday English for work, healthcare, or travel
Engaging seniors through gentle lessons, crafts, and conversation
Helping plan arts-based and intercultural workshops that bring diverse groups together
Why choose this project?
Teach with purpose and help reduce educational inequality
Gain practical, creative experience in informal English teaching
Foster intergenerational and multicultural connection
Make a meaningful contribution through supportive community placement
Explore and experience Rome authentically during your free time
Whether you volunteer for two weeks or several months, you will leave with new teaching skills, lifelong friendships, and the satisfaction of inspiring learners from all walks of life.
