Details
You will start your volunteer adventure at Lilayi Elephant Orphanage near Lusaka where you will spend your first seven days.
Here, you and your team members will be involved in biodiversity surveys in Lusaka National Park, vegetation and transect surveys, identifying and tracking wildlife through spoor and scat observations and different community outreach projects.
The second half of your stay will be spent in Kafue National Park, at the programme’s Release Facility. Biodiversity surveys, community outreach projects, learning about our partner’s elephant rehabilitation and release programme, training in elephant behavioural observation studies as well as staff capacity building belong to the typical volunteer tasks.
Please note the hands-off policy: for ethical reasons, only professional employees are allowed direct contact with the elephants.
