Family volunteering holiday in Thailand with elephants and other wildlife

The Project


This unforgettable family volunteering experience is based at a leading wildlife sanctuary just three hours from Bangkok. The sanctuary is home to over 700 rescued animals including elephants, sun bears, orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and exotic birds. Many were victims of the illegal pet trade or exploited by the tourist industry, and cannot return to the wild. Here, they receive lifelong care in spacious, natural enclosures.

Suitability & Age


Designed for families with children aged 14 and older. Teens and adults of all backgrounds are welcome. This is a hands-on conservation experience where you’ll be involved in meaningful work—expect to get active and maybe a little muddy!

What will you do?

• Food preparation: Chop fruit, vegetables, and other food for monkeys, bears, elephants, and more.
• Feeding & cleaning: Help feed the animals and clean enclosures, water bowls, and enrichment spaces.
• Enrichment creation: Design and place puzzles and treats to keep animals mentally and physically stimulated.
• Maintenance support: Assist with light tasks around the sanctuary when needed, such as painting or repairs.
• Optional elephant work: Join a dedicated elephant team (children must be 14+), prepare food, bathe elephants, and walk them through the forest.
