Recyclage & Upcycling à Zanzibar

Do you want to get involved in environmental protection? A company in Zanzibar has launched a project that upcycles hard plastic and other materials to create new products such as furniture, lamps, or souvenirs. These products are typically handmade and emphasize design. Low-income women can participate by collecting hard plastic waste from hotels and restaurants to prevent it from entering the environment. They separate the material by color and sell it to the project. The project also offers workshops and awareness campaigns for schoolchildren and other groups to raise awareness about environmental protection and waste avoidance.

As a volunteer in this project, you'll mostly support marketing, administration, and the development of materials for workshops. Your tasks may include creating social media content, designing flyers or brochures, updating the website, taking product photos, and designing the retail store. You can also assist with accounting tasks or other office work, as well as preparing reports and presentations. Knowledge in graphic design, social media management, photography, creative design, and Excel is often very useful. A group of volunteers visits the project once a week, and you can also prepare work for them and guide them during their visit.

The deployment is unpaid, but it offers you invaluable experience.
