The Project

This family-friendly volunteering experience is based at Eastern Europe’s largest bear sanctuary, nestled in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. Home to over 100 rescued bears—many saved from tiny cages or performance shows—alongside wolves, donkeys, horses, and dogs, this sanctuary is a haven where wildlife thrives.

Suitability & Age

Designed for families with children aged 10 and above. Teens and adults are welcome. Be ready for a hands-on conservation experience—and to get a little muddy!

What will you do?

• Food preparation: Sort produce, make “bear ice creams,” and de-package food while bears curiously watch nearby.
• Observation: View wildlife from treetop platforms or underground viewing areas.
• Family experience: Work together in meaningful conservation activities while exploring nature.
