Immerse yourself in the heart of Uganda’s tropical rainforests and take part in a hands-on conservation project dedicated to protecting endangered chimpanzees and their habitat. As a volunteer, you will work alongside local guides and conservationists to observe and document chimpanzee behavior, recording vital information on their social interactions, movements, and daily activities. This data is essential for understanding the species and implementing effective strategies to protect them.
In addition to wildlife monitoring, you will engage in practical conservation work that helps restore and maintain the forest ecosystem. Activities may include planting trees, establishing tree nurseries, building beehives that support both biodiversity and local communities, and assisting with ecological surveys such as bird and mammal counts or mapping forest areas.
By participating, you contribute directly to preserving a critical ecosystem, mitigating human-wildlife conflicts, and supporting sustainable conservation practices. This project offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in wildlife research, forest management, and community-based conservation, all while developing a deep understanding of the delicate balance between humans, wildlife, and nature in Uganda. Volunteers leave with not only valuable skills but also a meaningful impact on both the animals and the local environment.
