Your placement in Barcelona
The local NGO works with an international team to protect the oceans and the local community in Barcelona. As the project does not receive any government funding, the support of volunteers is essential. The aim of the project is to preserve marine biodiversity, raise awareness of marine conservation and support the local community.
A special highlight: as part of your assignment, you will take a certified ‘Open Water Diver’ diving course (PADI), which will enable you to dive independently and actively contribute to the protection of the underwater world.
Your tasks in the project
Your tasks will range from diving to monitor the underwater world, to litter removal and species protection, to environmental education workshops.
Mindfulness and personal development are also part of the programme, with daily morning sessions (yoga, meditation, affirmations), weekly workshops and regular mentoring.
Your daily work
The day begins at 9:30 a.m. at the diving club with a short preparation session before heading out on the dives. After lunch (12:30–1:30 p.m.), there is a debriefing and work on local tasks. Your working day ends at around 4 p.m.
Your free time
