Discover the East Coast and help protecting Australias beautiful nature!

Pays d’action: Australie, Australie & Océanie
Type d’activité: Ecovolontariat
Discover the incredible, paradise-like east coast of Australia via roadtrip and get to know all its hot-spots on the way! After this, your work in a sustainable nature conservation project starts where you can give a bit back to this country!

Description du projet et du rôle des volontaires

Landscapes, natural habitats and species are in the focus of the nature conservation work. Your support is needed to strengthen, maintain and help recover nature. You might work in rainforests, mountain ranges or on the coast - depending on actual needs, the time you travel and the current weather conditions.

You help in this project from Monday to Friday and have the weekend off to get to know the closer surrounding. These might be beaches or national parks - depending on your project. You will always get good recommendations from the staff you work with - they are locals and know the best places to see!

In general the project has 5 different categories it aims at:

1. „Wild Future“ – Help to protect endangered animals! You and your team implement recovery plans within the direct natural surroundings of the animals which then generates new ressources for them to survive.

2. „Wild Places“ – Help to prevent and conserve Australias unique places, for example national parks which belong to community property.

3. "Community Program" - Support communities to protect natural ressources surrounding them. Especially where they need them the most, e.g. close to home, coasts, waterways, urban places and community spaces.

4. "Living Heritage" - Help to maintain important traditions and places for future generations as their cultural heritage.

5. „Disaster Recovery“: After natural catastrophes direct and hands-on work is needed! Support programs after fires, floods, earthquakes, cyclones, oil spills, and marine mammal strandings.

You support the nature protection project in the second part of your journey for two weeks. In the first part we get to know the east coast in four weeks and in various ways (sailing, snorkeling, etc.) and on various places. The tour brings you to these places: Sydney – Byron Bay – Surfers Paradise – Brisbane – Noosa – Fraser Island – Airlie Beach – Whitsundays Sailing Tour – Magnetic Island and Cairns. As a final week we have planned to see Cape Tribulation! If you wish to receive more Infos and detailled description just let us know!

When will we be able to accept volunteers again?
We have regrettably cancelled most of our trips and courses that were due to go ahead 2020. Our next scheduled trips though will most likely be not be departing before January 2021. We remain optimistic that are programs will return to normality by this time, but we are of course constantly monitoring the situation and are making decisions about the operation of our trips and courses on a rolling basis, based on the departure date. We have, however, begun to accept bookings from participants for trips in January 2021 which is great news and very encouraging.
We look forward to getting back to running our trips around the world, just as soon as it is safe, practical, and responsible to do so.

Can you apply now for future trips & courses?
Of course! We are currently taking bookings for trips and courses due to depart in January 2021 and beyond. Our ability to secure you a place on future trips has not been affected and we are planning future trips as usual.

What is your refund policy in light of Covid-19?
In light of the uncertainty surrounding international travel, we have recently launched flexible bookings for trips departing in 2020/strong>. You are now able to book a place on any program departing in 2020 with a fully refundable deposit plus free cancellations and changes up to 60 days before travel.
