About the project
Your manufactory is located in a small village right in the Chitwan National Park. Recycled paper products are handcrafted here. An elephant produces 50 kg of dung a day, which mainly consists of plant fibers. This is creatively transformed by hand there. Before the elephants set off into the jungle in the morning, they are washed on the large premises. The sale of the products is also an important area of work in the paper mill. In addition to the six permanent village residents, volunteers regularly lend a hand.
Your tasks in the elephant dung project
You have various tasks in this project. You can help with everything from collecting the dung and processing it into paper to designing, implementing and creating the products. You can even sell the finished products at a stall in the village and beyond the borders of Nepal. You will also work with the elephants and help with preparing their food and caring for them.
Your daily routine in the project
As a volunteer, you will work from Monday to Friday from around 9:00 a.m. to around 3:00 p.m.
Your free time in Nepal
You will have the weekend off and can explore the beautiful nature of the national park around you. In Chitwan National Park, you can experience Nepal's wild nature up close – on safari, on foot or by canoe. With a little luck, you may see large mammals such as bears or even tigers.
