Your assignment as a carpenter in Ghana
You will work in a carpentry workshop that uses bamboo, a sustainable raw material, to make various items of furniture. Bamboo is ideal for sustainable carpentry because it grows back quickly. The bamboo furniture project creates training and jobs while protecting the local environment. The work involves making furniture and carrying out repairs.
Carpenters can also participate in further training courses.
The project is committed to generating new income opportunities, especially for the poorer population. In addition, the use of bamboo is relatively environmentally friendly, which means that less forest is cleared and the environment is protected. All money generated by this project goes to charitable organizations.
Your tasks in the bamboo workshop in Ghana
On site, you will carry out a variety of projects with your colleagues. For example, you will plan and draw furniture designs, which you will then build and maintain. You will gain an insight into the work process on site and be instructed in the use of the usual tools.
You can also give free rein to your creativity during your participation. For example, you can search online for new ideas for furniture making and put them into practice by combining different materials. So you are always welcome to create something new.
Your daily work in the carpentry workshop
