As a volunteer, you will become part of the team’s varied day-to-day work. Depending on the weather, the season and the current stage of the project, you will support jungle conservation activities, for example by caring for seedlings, collecting and planting seeds, and helping to create, maintain and repair jungle trails. Your tasks may also include work in the animal care area, such as supporting rescue missions or helping with the care of animals at the rescue centre.
Further areas of involvement may include fieldwork, such as planting and harvesting tropical crops, setting up gardens and permaculture areas, or supporting organisational tasks like translations, creating materials and contacting partner organisations. Educational workshops and small support tasks for local businesses can also be part of the wider project framework.
Placements only take place on selected dates and last between one and four weeks. On site, you will work closely with the team while also having the opportunity to help shape your focus areas according to your interests, skills and suitability. The project thrives on volunteers who show initiative and are willing to embrace a nature-based, simple and varied daily routine.
