About the animal shelter in Cape Town
Your place of work is an animal shelter in Cape Town. Here, farm animals, pets, wild animals, and farm animals find refuge. The facility is a member of international animal welfare associations. This project is made possible by the commitment of a non-profit organization. The facility is a large site where numerous animals are taken in, either permanently or temporarily. There is also a veterinary clinic. The animal shelter treats and cares for abandoned, injured, and neglected animals. But it's not just domestic and farm animals that are housed at the shelter: farm animals and wild animals that find themselves in difficult situations are also taken care of. The non-profit organization relies on the help of volunteers and honorary helpers.
Your tasks in the project
As a volunteer at the animal shelter, you will work in various areas as needed. This can be in the animal rescue service or directly at the shelter. This means that your tasks will be varied.
Your responsibilities will include feeding and caring for the animals, cleaning the enclosures, and walking the dogs. In order to run the shelter in the long term, donations for the animals must be collected. That's why fundraising is important, and you can help the team keep the animal shelter running! If you have prior knowledge of veterinary medicine, you will have the opportunity to assist the veterinarians at the animal clinic.
Your daily routine in the project
Your working days as a volunteer are Monday through Friday. Your day begins at 8 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m. You will have a lunch break in between.
