Permaculture Project in Bolivia

You can learn everything about permaculture at Simon and Jessica's permaculture retreat in Bolivia and immediately apply your new skills during your volunteer work or unpaid internship. Permaculture is a comprehensive approach to sustainable living that combines agriculture, ecology, and spatial planning to create self-sufficient systems that function in harmony with nature. Simon, who built the center, has about 20 years of experience in permaculture and natural healing methods and will impart his knowledge to you during daily project work. Various animals also live on the farm.

Exciting projects and tasks await you, such as the rehabilitation of the Mizque River, the development of an open-source garden planner, and the construction of a new kitchen. The projects change according to the continuous development of the center. There is also a lively exchange with the indigenous population of the surrounding area, who are supported in improving their living situation. The farm also produces organic fertilizers and natural pest control agents, which are also sold.

A typical day usually begins with sunrise and an hour of physical work such as feeding animals and gardening. Afterwards, the project team has breakfast together before you then work on current projects for four hours. The tasks rotate among the participants so that you can learn as much as possible. The afternoons are at your free disposal to explore the area or take on further activities.

You share cooking and kitchen duties with the other participants, and nutritious meals are often eaten together. The program also includes community-building activities and those related to mental health, such as regular yoga. It is also possible to complete an engineering internship in the field of water remediation and water extraction as part of the project.
