As part of the medical volunteer placements in Peru, participants are able to actively and passively participate in various clinics in Cusco and the surrounding areas like San Juan de Dios. In each location, the medical personnel are determined to provide access to comprehensive medical assistance that leads to complete rehabilitation for their patients. The other clinic staff set high standards for the support and care of the patients outside of their medical treatments. They help create an environment that is comfortable and encouraging and always have an open mind towards patients' problems, questions, and needs.
The clinics that receive our volunteers may be flexible with the work schedule and will allow participants to work full time or part time. Volunteers are not required to have special skills or a professional background in medicine or health care, however, specialized students or professionals do have additional active work opportunities. Volunteers should be comfortable speaking in Spanish.
As a volunteer, you will participate in many different tasks that range from taking care of children, realizing home visits, as well as assisting in kitchen and laundry duties. Nursing students with first aid training will have additional tasks, and recent graduate, even more so. Your work will be diverse and interesting, giving you the satisfaction of helping many different patients and having the opportunity to work alongside different clinic staff in different areas of the medical field!
During your volunteer stay, you will provide assistance in diverse areas to the warm-hearted Peruvian people.
