Volunteers joining the Under-18 Trip support and encourage underprivileged children in local schools and community outreach projects to learn through educational activities.
During the trip volunteers run interactive lessons which may include:
Working with a team of volunteers, your role will be to create and run activity sessions in local schools for 2 hours each weekday morning.
In the afternoons volunteers play games and support art activities at community outreach projects and a disabled school for children aged between 7 – 17 years old.
This is a brilliant opportunity to volunteer to help improve the children’s English skills and run activity sessions for children whilst becoming fully immersed in the local community and learning about Indian culture which few tourists ever experience.
Throughout the two weeks volunteers are able to learn about Indian culture through Hindi lessons, cooking classes, henna workshop, cultural classes and Bollywoood cinema trip. During the evenings and weekends volunteers will visit the famous Taj Mahal, palaces, forts, temples plus a dance and music show.
The project in India provides continuous assistance to day care centres and schools which have limited funding and resources. The community outreach project was established by the team in 2015 to support a neighbouring community who rely on collecting rubbish to sell in order to generate income for their families. The project aims to encourage the community to start engaging with the education system and increase the communities' skills.
Volunteers provide assistance to support the underfunded and understaffed schools, in an effort to improve the support and education levels of children in the city of Udaipur.
The Under 18 Teaching and Cultural Experience gives the children an opportunity to get involved in arts and crafts activities which are otherwise not available.
