The volunteer projects in Spain take place either in Valencia or Denia at the beautiful Mediterranean coast. You can start the project all year round and participate for a minimum of two weeks; your stay can be extended by the week. By participating in the project you will get the chance to learn about Spain’s wildlife, to work for the conservation of the region, as well as for the protection of the natural, cultural and aesthetic worth of the landscape.
The region of Valencia captivates with beautiful landscapes that are wrought with stunning contradictions: hills, mountains, rivers, forests, and marshlands are characteristic for the region. Highlights are the Albufera Natural Park and the Sierra Calderona. The Albufera nature reserve is also the main location of the project – it is close to the city and this wetland is not only incredibly beautiful but also ecologically significant. Your task during the project is to support the conservation and protection of this habitat. You will learn about conservation, how it works, and how it helps to lessen the impact of agriculture and tourism on the environment. Your team will consist of volunteers from all around the world and together you support local teams to protect the environment.
The fishing port of Denia is the location for the second conservation project that is dedicated to the protection and conservation of marine ecosystems on Cape San Antonio. This cape belongs to the breathtaking Montgó Nature Reserve which is surrounded by the marine reserve “Reservat Marina del Cabo de San Antonio”. This reserve is established to safeguard the beautiful sea that encloses the cape. Denia lies in the middle of the Valencian Community, between the two cities Valencia and Allicante. This idyllic fishing port is embedded in a gorgeous landscape. Highlights of the area are the Montgó Natural Park, the Cape San Antonio Marine Reserve and the Pego wetland area. During your stay your work will often be carried out on gorgeous beaches in the area. Diving and snorkeling will be taught so that you should definitely be a strong swimmer. By partaking in this awe-inspiring volunteer project you help to work towards the conservation of the marine ecosystems. Denia is transport-wise very well connected to other cities of the country so that it is a perfect place to discover your environment, the culture and the people of Spain.
