Internship in Arts & Culture management and production in Malta

Malta's performing arts scene operates with a great deal of passion, creativity and camaraderie to achieve high quality productions, although the financial resources in Malta have always been significantly lower than in many other countries and the Covid-19 restrictions are driving many organisations and artists to subsistance levels.

As a management and production intern you can be with a government, non-profit or private-sector organisation in the field of performing arts such as a theater, TIE (Theater in Education), an acting school, orchestra, dance group or film production. You will be involved in the daily operation of the facility, communication with partners, marketing, coordination tasks & logistics, and actively helping out with shows production such as stage design, props, costums etc.

Malta has a large number of museums and cultural and historical monuments with permanent exhibitions. Most of them have a historical reference, but there are also art museums, a science museum, a natural history museum and various technology museums. As a museum intern, you are usually involved in the operation and marketing of the museum, i.e. you work at the reception and in the office. Interns in relevant fields and with the appropriate experience can also work in the field of restoration of historical artefacts and museum design.

Due to the island's location and eventful history, Maltese art and culture is richly influenced by the entire Mediterranean region and 160 years of British colonization. The capital Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for their hospitable and sociable manner, the Malterser are open-minded and enthusiastic people.
