Ecuador is one of the few countries with a unique biodiversity of both flora and fauna. Massive deforestation, oil projects, development of infrastructure and the penetration of settlements in still untouched (forest) areas destroy huge areas of beautiful nature and important habitat for exotic animals.
In various volunteer projects, environmental protection is intensified, ecotourism promoted and environmental education carried out. Our project locations are located in the Amazon region, in the cloud forest north of Quito and on the Galapagos Islands.
The tasks for volunteers are wide-ranging and project-dependent. They range from the maintenance of nature reserves and the collection of field data to community work and reforestation, agroforestry, gardening and the conservation of plants. Usually, volunteers help out at the Plant Preservation Center, taking care of the maintenance of trails and working paths, and creating new trails through the jungle. They also help in the botanical gardens, where they get to know first hand the fantastic biodiversity of Ecuador. The tasks there include collecting seeds, cultivating the crop, nurturing the nursery, watering the plants in the greenhouses and documenting various plants for research purposes.
This volunteer program is therefore ideal for nature lovers who want to protect our mother earth and get to know local flora and fauna. Your tasks are mostly outdoors. Normally you work from Monday to Friday, about 5-8 hours daily. Please keep in mind that working time always depends on workload, weather conditions and unplanned situations. Flexibility is needed!
Note: The volunteer work described here takes place in different volunteer projects. The participation fee may vary depending on the project. The prices are therefore to be understood as reference prices. Please send us an inquiry, so that we can tell you the exact prices and project information.
